The Storm

(written when I was 9)
The thunder flashed and rumbled
And shook the buildings hard
Until they collapsed and tumbled
On people and cars
Everybody ran like crazy
Going here, going there
Except one little girl called Mazy,
Who stayed as still as a teddy bear
She let the rain fall upon her
And drench her from head to toe
But still she stood there
Wet socks and a wet bow
One at a time,
The villagers stopped
Standing shocked in the rain
Some holding babies,
Some wincing in pain
Mazy smiled,
Her message was clear
Nowadays, we all talk of her calm in the storm,
In countries faraway and near
